Poll

If some of your friends had commissioned an artist to make a very important liturgical item for you . . . that you hope you will need someday . . . and you are going with a blend of Celtic and birds for the design (sort of like the one second from left, plus birds in flight)  . .   would you choose . . . your own gannet bird . . .  or St. Brigid's oystercatcher  . . .  knowing that you are untried and unproven while Brigid is a model as a leader, administrator, healer, artist, and educator. . . . Please vote in the comments!

P.S. I was hoping to post a photo of the paraments hanging in our church for Advent, but they aren't on the website.  Here, instead, is a photo from a nearby church.  (If you get the whole page, it's the fourth mini-picture from the left.)

P.P.S. Mary Ann is married to a man who was one of Josh's favorite teachers.  They have recently joined my home church, and this gift from my wonderful friends is a connection to Josh, albeit completely unintended on their part.

And P.P.P.S. for anyone who doesn't know: for a long time, my blogging pseudonym was Gannet Girl.

  4. Sounds like your heart, as well as your fans, leans toward Gannet...Looks prettier in the pictures, too. You could always get Brigid in with a Brigid's cross, or Pentecostal flames.

  8. feel like voting for the oystercatcher just to be different and they are one of the few shorebirds I can ID easily ;') I am so far behind in blog reading. Hope all is well my friend. and I truly dig the wings of the gannet, but I have to say that you did not get the oystercathers in their best pose--- skimming.
